CPRA has been working on Gender Equity in Recreational Sport as part of Canada’s efforts to address the Equity target set by Ministers responsible for sport/rec/physical activity in 2018 to achieve gender equity in sport at every level by 2035.  The overall goal of CPRA’s gender equity initiatives is to increase the recruitment and retention of women and girls in recreational sport in Canada.  Significant barriers to participation and retention of girls and women in sport and recreation are access to facilities in their communities and the design and maintenance of the facilities in a way that they value and in which they feel safe and welcome.
